Jan 30 TUSAL

My January 30 TUSAL.

I found a better container for my ORTs. The plastic cup is still filled, but I will be using it soon for stuffing so I figured I would start the new jar with new ORTs.

I stitched these shamrocks, then coffee stained the fabric. The pattern is free HERE.

I also stitched this Valentine, but coffee stained the fabric first. The pattern is free HERE.

I will probably turn both into pillow tucks.

Happy stitching!

Hot

It is hot today. I've been wanting to coffee stain some things I've made, but there was no sun or it was too windy. Today it's too hot! Perfect day for dirtying up some handmades.

I hope they turn out nice!

We're headed to the store and then to see Gram's, but we're waiting until it cools down first. The air conditioner is broken in the car again. *sad face*

Windy

The wind blew all night long and most of today.

The pool this morning was filthy.

(Someone needs to clean their camera lens...)

Sweet Anabelle decided to clean it up.

She is really good at doing things without being asked. She's going to make a great wife and mom someday.

Stitching

Just finished up this little black cat with a heart. Not sure what I am going to finish it as, probably an ornament style of some kind. The pattern is from Happiness is Cross Stitching.

I wasn't able to post these next two finishes until now because I wasn't able to mail them out until the week before Christmas! Both ladies received theirs so I can share what I made for my two PIF recipients.

I chose this pattern to make for Holly. It is one of my favorites! The pattern came from Feathers in the Nest.

This is the one I made for Tammy. I started it before we came to CA and thankfully it made it's way out here so I could finish it. The pattern is from Gazette94.

I have not stitched these for myself yet, but I want to!

Jan 1 TUSAL

Since I am stitching again I decided to play along with the Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long (TUSAL) this year. :)

Here is my ORT (old ratty threads) jar. It's actually a plastic cup... next time I'll have a pretty jar. :) I have DMC floss, the little wrappers from the floss, fabric scraps/thread, and sewing machine thread in my cup.

TGIF

TGIF! While we all love homeschooling, it's nice to have the weekend "off."

Except for the educational DVDs I checked out from the library.

Anabelle using the library internet for one of her homeschool websites.

Justin uploads youtube videos while working on homeschool websites.

I have to sit between them at the library or nothing would get done.

A random pic from my camera last month.... Saw this out in Fountain Valley.

What are your plans for the weekend? I am not sure what we're doing. My uncle is flying in sometime tomorrow to visit Grams, so we'll probably go with him to visit her tomorrow.

Pictures

I have put all of our pictures on Facebook and Picasa. I prefer and love Picasa, but I am not happy with Google forcing Picasa into Google+, and their redirecting. Makes it harder for me to share photos with a link that actually works.

EDIT: I decided a Page would work better so I can keep the albums from having to be labeled "public on the web."

I haven't been able to blog much this year and share pictures, so if you're interested, you can still see what we were up to during 2013. :)

Christmas Tree

We had a good Christmas with both of our families. The kids got some of the things they have been wanting.

Here are some pics of ornaments we made. We ended up not having much time to make ornaments after all. We seem to not have a lot of time at "home" to do much of anything.

The little candy cane is one Anabelle made from homemade baking soda clay and then painted on the red stripes. The Silent Night ornament I made last year and is actually a gift to someone, someday I will mail them to that person...

I made this snowman head from the baking soda clay. I painted the nose and used a sharpie for the eyes and mouth.

A little gingerbread from the b.s. clay that Anabelle made and then painted.

A heart made from b.s. clay that Anabelle made and then painted.

Anabelle made the "tree shaped" ornament from popsicle sticks and wrapping paper. Big candy cane is from the dollar store. I found a small cow bell to add to the tree, it's a little hard to see it well in this pic. I love those kinds of bells.

I wrapped most of the dollar store candy canes in fabric.

One of the rag balls I made years ago.

Another tree (triangle) ornament that Anabelle made, this time with glitter and popsicle sticks. And another candy cane from the d.s. wrapped in fabric. Anabelle made a bunch of popsicle stick snowflakes that she glittered up, but they didn't get onto the tree until after these pics.

The other ornament I made to send to someone last year. I'm so good at procrastinating!

I found this ornament while looking around the house for Christmas decorations.

We bought this star topper at the 99 cent store.

I agreed to allow tinsel this year. I won't be doing that again!

We found these pine branches and pinecones at the park.

Bailey sleeping by the tree.

The tree lit up.

The ornaments I'd made in years past were in one of the craft boxes hubby managed to bring out here from our storage unit in Colorado. We didn't have any of our usual decorations, but we also didn't think we'd be out here for Christmas still. The kids and I tried decorating with paper chains made from wrapping paper, but most of them wouldn't stay up. I made a wreath for the front door using some of the branches we found at the park. My grams only has a few decorations, she really didn't do much for the different holidays so there wasn't much here to work with. We still had a good Christmas and that's all that matters!
